Day 23: Something Old

This is the timeline of last night:

3 am: Nathan wakes up to eat

4 am: Davis wakes up with a bloody nose

5 am: Hayden wakes up with a very important question.

He taps my shoulder, and with concern in his voice whispers:
Mom, did we give anything back to France when they gave us the Statue of Liberty?

First, let me stop right here and say that I can't make this stuff up.
You can trust me because until this morning AT 5 AM, I didn't even know that
France had given us the Statue of Liberty.

History is not my strong suit. And we already talked about the fact

Second, I wish I had this conversation video taped, because I cannot adequately
describe the randomness coupled with worry in Hayden's voice.

I'm still not sure what led to the curiosity AT FIVE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING.
Maybe concern that the United States didn't send a Thank You note to France?

You know that feeling, right?
When you realize a month later that you never sent a Thank You
note to your Great Aunt for the birthday gift card.

Anyway, all that to say I am dedicating this post to the "OLD"
Statue of Liberty, that has represented our freedom for over 125 years.

Dear France,
Thanks for the Statue.
Love, the Lyle Family

Dear Hayden,
Thanks for making blogging easy.
Love, Mom

In other news, here is a cool picture representing
four generations of Lyle boys...my original "Something Old" idea.

Cute, cute list of kids' sayings! I loved reading those! It reminds me of all the funny things my kids say.

Blessings!

Oh no, that's one gene I hope hadn't passed to Hayden. I can't begin to remember the number of times I was awoken in the middle of the night with Jeff standing over me or tapping me on my shoulder to ask me some random question.

But there is hope. He stopped at about age 10.

Thanks again for letting me laugh at your expense.

This is so funny. With four boys, I'm sure they will always give you plenty to blog about.
