The kit consists of a vintage looking toy elf, a cute rhyming storybook that tells the story of the elf. The book explains just how Santa knows the behavior of children all over the world, because he sends out elves who report back to the Big Man himself. Each night the elf magically flies back to the North Pole to report on the kids’ behavior. The next morning he comes back to the house and arrives in a different location. If anyone is to touch the elf, he loses his magic. At the end of the book, you are supposed to name the elf and we named him Melph. Very creative, I know.
So basically, it was a present for us. Sort of like good-behavior-in-a-box.
Which is why I was probably the most disappointed to see Melph fly back on Christmas Eve.
