One Hundred Forty Six: Weigh Ins and Generic Brands

Today was Blake's 2 month check up.

If this visit to the pediatrician was a reality TV show,
it would have been a cross between
The Biggest Loser (with all the weighing, measuring, and percentages)  and
The Price is Right (since whoever guesses the closest weight wins).

Blake weighed in at 11 pounds 3 ounces which meant Jeff was the winner at this visit.
His prize? Extra feeding time with Blake at midnight.
Congrats Jeff!

That 11+ pound weigh in put him in the 48 percentile, which is impressive,
but for some reason, I can't help but think that some people birth babies that big.

OUCH!

They measured his head and body as well,
but I can't remember those measurements because I was too
busy trying to come up with an acceptable answer to what kind of formula he eats.

Nurse: Is he only on formula now?
Me: Yes.

Nurse: How much does he take?
Me: About 4-5 ounces every 3 hours.

Nurse: What kind of formula
Me: Enfamil

Nurse: Enfamil?...?...?...What kind of Enfamil?
Me: Um...

Nurse: Enfamil with Lipil? Enfamil Premium? Premium Enfamil with Lipil? Enfamil AR?
Me: Um...just the basic kind.

In reality, he was only eating Enfamil for the first 6 weeks or so...until he finished off all of the free samples we received at the hospital and in the mail.

He has now successfully transitioned to Great Value Brand.

Because we are cheap.

And I figure if we can eat Toasted O's instead of Honey Nut Cheerios,
then it's not too early for Blake to make some sacrifices* to.

But the thing is, if I were to answer that he eats Great Value...or Parents Choice...or whatever it is, I think that would mean they would stop giving us the free samples.

So I winged it and said he is on Enfamil...Enfamil Basic....if they even make that.

And it worked like a charm earning Blake another 2 weeks of the good stuff.

Because as we all know Free is better than Cheap.

*For the record, when I asked the doctor about using
Generic Brand Formula (in a totally hypothetical tone),
she acknowledged that it was perfectly acceptable and just as nutritious.

Lol! Do you want enfamil checks? Will that make it comparable in price? I often get $ 5 ones.
